Basic beginner video May 17, 2010 T. Roucek (Chesapeake, VA) I guess I am a little more advanced than I thought, this is a nice "beginner video"
Okay but not really the best learning system March 3, 2010 MT Pockets (Big Sky) I bought this and the Igoe DVD at the same time. As an old man learning to play for the first time I need all the help I can get. It is an interesting approach on how to incorporate the drums but in my opinion there wasn't any thing ultimate about it. If you are going to buy a video, I would suggest Igoe's.
A real review January 16, 2009 M. Ward (Baltimore, MD USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like this DVD. The instructor is informative and interesting. You can learn a little from the DVD too. It's great because you don't really need drums to play either.
With that being said, you still need an instructor to properly learn drums. If you are really serious I would check out "Syncopation for the modern drummer" book. That book is a much better value.
Very Helpful! Instructor's Great! November 14, 2008 Shalla DeGuzman (Bamberg, Germany) If you're a beginner, this is a DVD to get.
The instructor helps you with all the basics like the best ways to position yourself on the foot pedal, how to hit your high hats, etc. It's also great that he says, you can just start with sticks and not need a drum or even a drum pad to get started.
I'm starting with Xbox 360 Drum Rocker Premium Drum Setthe nice Xbox drum set though, it's digital so I can adjust the volume and you can play it as a reg. drum or play games... but I digress... This DVD works with my new drumset and the instructor is direct to the point. He gives how-to's and shows how to perform them in a fun easy steps. I'm glad I got this as my first instructional DVD for the drums.
Great intro into drumming. May 24, 2008 R. Ballister (Annapolis, MD) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an easy to follow and well organized intro into learning to play the drums. I was playing along with the DVD less than an hour after I got it! However, it does leave the learner feeling like there could have been more beats introduced, and more rythyms discussed. But overall a very good way to introduce yourself to a drum kit.
