Product Description This 5" diameter x 2" thick baby drum has a rainbow-colored shell with two fixed (pretuned) heads. It comes with a 5.5" long chunky mallet (colorful foam head on a plastic handle). One of a series of instruments developed in conjunction with Lynn Kleiner for early childhood use. For infants and older. (Remember, since the drumhead is not tunable each drum will have a unique pitch.)

Didn't work that well February 3, 2010 John Smith My 1-year old first thing was to bite a piece of the mallet, then never really showed that much interest in the toy. The drum seems ok, but doesn't sound that good when placed on a carpet for example.
Great introduction to rhythm play February 1, 2010 Bonnie Becker (Chicago, IL USA) This drum was purchased for my grandson who was 9 months old at the time. We were searching for rhythm instruments that would be safe for a young child. This drum and mallet were the perfect size to be manageable for him, and produced a very pleasant sound as well. He just celebrated his first birthday, and this instrument (I don't even think of it as a toy) continues to be a favorite. He uses the mallet on other potential "drums" (plastic coffee cannister, small aluminum bowl, etc.) as well as the actual drum. I am very pleased that we found this.
Small with a great sound November 5, 2009 Helen Holloway (Atlanta, Georgia United States) I didn't realized from the picture just how small this drum is. However, despite it's size it sounds great. My nine month old son loves to bang on his drum with the easy to hold drum stick....when he's not chewing it that it....LOL.
Cute, colorful and sounds great even though it's tiny.
Great first drum! July 1, 2009 mom of Lily (Sacramento, CA) Good amount of "drum" noice, but not too loud! Mallet is big enough that I dont' worry about my daughter choking on it. Great product for a toddler!
My son's favorite toy March 11, 2009 Nicholas L. Nienaber (Crooklyn, NY) After noticing my son's tendency to ignore fancier, flashier toys in favor of just whacking on things, I thought a drum would be just the thing to keep him entertained. This is the real deal; a real wooden frame with a real leather skin stretched across it, that produces real drum sounds! Unlike the glut of cheap plastic toys that require batteries to make noise, this is a simple, straight forward drum that my son absolutely loves. It's quite a bit smaller than you'd think based on the picture, but that's a minor complaint at best.
I can't recommend this strongly enough, both as a great toy and a child's first musical instrument.
