Product Description The Bodhran is the traditional Celtic drum that provides the vital pulse of Celtic music even in modern times. The Grover-Trophy bodhran stays true to the time-honored build. It is played with a double beater that allows one hand to produce complex rhythms, while the other hand adds tonal expression by muting or applying tension to the inside surface of the head.

Nice sound and easy to play July 27, 2010 Eterscel This drum (made in Pakistan not in Éirin) has a nice sound and I found it easy to play. The one draw back is that the cross bars are a little too close to the head and my arm is slightly restricted. An additional half inch deeper shell would be nice and the cross bars about half an inch farther from the head would be great! Over all I am greatly pleased with my purchase. A great price, too!!!
I have to say that I AM PLEASED and will reconmend this to others!!

The drum I received is not as vintage or ethnic looking as the photograph makes it appear.
Mine is white with nails holding the head on. There are no designs or patterns.
One of the 4 braces to hold the drum was missing a nail which made the whole construction loose. I was able to fix it though.
Sound quality is average, not 'boomy' like another reviewer claims.
Love ti... February 11, 2010 SCS (KNOXVILLE, TN, US) I thought this was very reasonably priced and I think it gets a very nice sound. It looks good hanging up too.
Good Bodhran for Learning October 7, 2009 Kymberly Pease (Boyden, IA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bodhran as a gift for my husband. He loves it and the sound is amazing. His one complaint is that the tipper is a bit small for him, but since they sell lots of tippers this isn't too big of a problem. I was disappointed that his didn't come with the trim and instead has the nails showing. The nails look good with the bodhran so I don't think my husband cares that there isn't any trim. Overall I'd say that this is a great bodhran for learning. It's cheap enough that if he doesn't like it we haven't waisted a lot of money and if he likes it we haven't invested so much money that we'll feel guilty when he upgrades to a tunable drum.
For the price, it is a great Bodhran December 17, 2008 M. Wellhaven (California) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
For the price, it is a great Bodhran (Boy, Irish is certainly not a phonetic language). If you are playing a lot of public sessions, this in not the one for you. You would want a tunable one. But it has a nice feel, good voice (or sound). It also comes with a tipper (beater) with a comfortable and useful "ridge" that is off center. For beginners this is helpful. When professional Bodhrans go from $300 - $3,000, this is a great buy.
