G. B. Sammartini (1698-1775) was known as St. Martini of Milan to differentiate him from his brother Giuseppe who worked in England. This is characteristic writing for strings and an introduction to the music of a less familiar composer of the Italian Baroque. A great study in terraced dynamics.
