The thread snare tied to one head adds an extra layer of depth and complexity, making this drum a joy to play. The playing surface measures about 13 inches, making it easy to handle and maneuver, while the 4.5-inch deep frame provides plenty of resonance and projection.

A Piece of History in Your Hands

This drum is an historic reproduction designed by The Early Music Shop of Bradford, England, making it a true collector's item. The English word 'tabor' is derived from the Latin word for drum, and today we use the term to refer to the two-headed squat drums associated with the Fife and Drum. The thin shell of the tabor looks like a frame drum shell with two heads, and is traditionally tin to make it lightweight and easy to carry.

Experience the Real Deal

Playing the Ems Tabor Drum with Sticks 14-Inch is an experience unlike any other. The drum is suspended by a strap from the forearm, somewhere between the elbow and wrist, allowing for maximum expressiveness and control. With one stick striking the snared head, the sound produced is nothing short of mesmerizing. So why settle for an imitation when you can have the real deal?

SPECIAL NOTE ON STRINGS:
There is no warranty on strings. Manufacturers recommend that you change the strings on your instrument as soon as you receive it. Your instrument has completed a long journey before it ever begins the final leg to your home. During this time the elements affect the strings and may shorten their lifespan. It occasionally happens that a string will fail during that final leg of the journey. Therefore, it is recommended that you purchase a replacement set of strings and consider changing your strings soon after it arrives. If you are a student you may want to change your strings every 3-4 months. If you are a rock star you may need to change your strings every week. If you store your instrument, you should consider changing the strings when you pick it up again.
