The Roosebeck Prima Balalaika is a beautifully crafted traditional Russian stringed instrument, perfect for musicians looking to add a unique touch to their music. With its walnut body and distinctive triangular shape, this balalaika is sure to turn heads.

Premium Materials and Craftsmanship

Our balalaika features a body made from rich walnut, with alternating staves of lacewood and walnut creating a striking contrast. The soundboard is also made of walnut, with a decorative inlay that not only adds to the instrument's beauty but also protects it from the strumming action.

Authentic Tuning and Playing Style

The Roosebeck Prima Balalaika comes with three strings, tuned to A, E, E, just like traditional Russian balalaikas. The playing style is unique, with the left hand noting the strings while the index finger of the right hand strums high on the soundboard near the neck. A nylon gig bag and pick are included to get you started right away.

A Rich History and Cultural Significance

The balalaika has a rich history, dating back to the Oriental dombra, which was introduced to Russia by Mongol trade and conquest. Over time, the instrument evolved and was embraced by the Russian people, becoming an integral part of their folk music tradition. The balalaika is said to embody the Russian people's character, with its ability to switch from happiness to sadness with ease.

SPECIAL NOTE ON STRINGS:
There is no warranty on strings. Manufacturers recommend that you change the strings on your instrument as soon as you receive it. Your instrument has completed a long journey before it ever begins the final leg to your home. During this time the elements affect the strings and may shorten their lifespan. It occasionally happens that a string will fail during that final leg of the journey. Therefore, it is recommended that you purchase a replacement set of strings and consider changing your strings soon after it arrives. If you are a student you may want to change your strings every 3-4 months. If you are a rock star you may need to change your strings every week. If you store your instrument, you should consider changing the strings when you pick it up again.

Please note:
For safety during shipping, the manufacturer don't tune the instruments before sending them to customers. Return policy A 15% handling charge is levied against all authorized returns except those due to our error. Unauthorized returns are subject to a 35% handling charge.
