P. Mauriat’s Le Bravo Soprano Sax

The P. Mauriat Le Bravo 200S intermediate soprano saxophone employs a unique alchemy to achieve its inimitable sound. Finely crafted with a resonant gold brass body and silver-plated straight and curved necks (both are included), the Le Bravo delivers a warm, sweet tone that’s ideal for classical, jazz, and other genres. Saxophonists love the Le Bravo for its easy playability, great intonation, and lyrical, emotive sound; band directors love it for its rock-solid construction, which keeps it in the classroom and not in the shop. The P. Mauriat Le Bravo 200S offers solid quality, performance, and value in an intermediate soprano saxophone. If you’re ready to take the next step in your development as a saxophonist, it’s an excellent choice.

In their wisdom, P. Mauriat has included both straight and curved silver-plated necks with the Le Bravo 200S. Why two necks? If you’re an advancing alto or tenor player, acclimating yourself to your first soprano sax is an interesting experience. Although the fingering is the same, the soprano’s form factor dictates a different approach to holding it as you play. While straight soprano necks are more popular than curved ones, there are advantages to each. Straight necks offer less blowing resistance than curved necks; and while a curved neck may require more effort, some players will find the ergonomics more comfortable, as it positions the horn at a lower angle relative to your torso, making it less tiresome to support the horn. Obviously, this a highly personal decision — one you needn’t make with the P. Mauriat Le Bravo 200S. It gives you the luxury of time to experiment with the included straight and curved necks to figure out what’s right for you.

Instruments that exude timeless character

The French brass and other metals used in P. Mauriat saxes are remarkably resonant due to the company’s arduous hand-hammering process, in which a saxophone body is hammered up to 400 times before moving on to the next artisan for final shaping. Tone holes are drawn from an instrument individually to ensure the precision and uniformity necessary for superior response and intonation. At P. Mauriat, lacquer is applied in three separate layers in order to achieve timeless, vintage visuals that will stand the test of time. Beautiful hand engraving is artfully performed with a simple hand tool and years of expertise. Once finished, each P. Mauriat saxophone is meticulously inspected and tested by one of the company’s roster of quality-control artists to make certain you receive a perfect instrument that will go the distance in your career.

Handcrafted vintage-inspired modern saxophones

An industry leader in vintage-inspired modern saxophones, P. Mauriat handcrafts their instruments in the French tradition with an emphasis on full-bodied vintage tone and optimized modern playability. To achieve these goals, P. Mauriat employs proprietary manufacturing techniques that result in instruments of outstanding quality and precision. Their zealous focus on fine craftsmanship produces saxophones that are highly prized among professional saxophonists and advancing players alike. Handmade to highlight the intrinsic characteristics of each individual model, the aesthetic beauty of P. Mauriat saxophones mirrors their vintage-flavored tone. Sweetwater is delighted to bring you P. Mauriat’s line of extraordinary instruments.
